Purdue OWL: Purdue Online Writing Lab, or Purdue OWL, is the ultimate guide for anything writing: academic, technical, creative, ESL, and grammar and punctuation. This is my Writing Bible.

Writer's Market: While Writer's Market releases a fantastic book at the beginning of each year that announces upcoming calls for submissions, contests, publishers, etc., its online search engine does just that and is updated frequently. Writer's Market is subscription based.

NaNoWriMo: Every November, thousands of writers from across the world participate in National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. The goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days--that's a whole book in a month!

Scrivener: This word-processing program was designed specifically for authors. With chapter and scene sections, a binder like set-up, and features for converting documents into EPUB files, writers take control of their novels in ways Microsoft Word Processor and Google Docs can never achieve.
